VPN Setup for XP Pro

This document will connect you to the Angels of Data network via VPN. This technology only works with a preexisting internet connection. This does not replace your internet connection

To start go to Start \ Settings \ Network Connections \ New Connection Wizard.

Your Desktop may differ due to XP’s Desktop Themes settings. If your desktop looks different, you must find the exactly named menus. They do exist.

This will bring you to the following screen:

Click Next

Choose Connect to the network at my workplace.

Click Next

Choose Virtual Private Connection

Click Next

Enter the Company Name: Angels of Data VPN or any other name for the connection. This information is not critical.

Click Next

Choose Do not dial the initial connection.

Click Next.

Enter the Host name of vpn.angelsofdata.com

Click Next

Choose My use only

Click Next

Put a check in Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop

Click Finish with one eye closed and one hand behind your back.

Click Properties

Click Options tab

Put a check in Include Windows logon domain and Redial if line is dropped

Click Networking tab

Change Type of VPN to PPTP VPN and check only services that are listed here:

1. Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)

2. File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks

3. Client for Microsoft Networks

Click OK

Enter User name: <Supplied by additional email>

Enter Password: <Supplied by additional email>

Enter Domain: <Supplied by additional email>

Place check in Save this user name and password for the following users:

Click Connect
